The nearby Clwydian Hill range offers many exciting walks with rewarding views. Views across the Vale of Clwyd towards Snowdonia mountain range can be expected from the Moel Fammau country park.

Lake Brenig is great for fly fishing and country walks.

The stunning and beautiful Snowdonia National Park is about an hour away by car via either the A5 or A55.

Historic Attractions

We are near Burgess Gate: the defence system of towers, walls and gateways are indeed impressive. The Burgess Gate or ‘townsman’s gate’ originally stood 60 feet high, and is recognised as one of the strongest medieval town gateways in Britain.

Denbigh Castle is also nearby. The castle is built upon a slab of natural rock and is recognised as one of the largest and strongest (when completed) castles to be built in Wales. Its seven towers used the defend the castle perimeter together with adjoining walls and large gatehouse. This castle was one of many fortresses built by the English king Edward I.

The Sandy Beaches

prestatyn beach

Many of North Wales’ beaches are pebbles, but you will find the sandy beaches at Prestatyn, with its sand dunes a pleasure for all the family (head towards Talacre for the best dunes).

A bit further afield is Llandudno with its famous wide Edwardian promenade that curves around the northern shore of the town. The west shore has more sand and fantastic views towards Snowdonia across Conwy Bay and Angelsey. The best views are obtained from the top of the headland called The Great Orme – either drive to the car park or for those more adventurous take the tram, chairlift or walk up to the top. There is even a dry ski slope on the Great Orme!
